She also believed that life is as what it seemed. As a young girl, she spent her times at the balls, making acquaintances with the aristocrats.
She had a crush on a young aristocrat man, but as she realized that he did not feel the same about her, she became very upset. Lento found her weeping alone under a tree, hidden from the crowds. He - in spite of being a stranger to her - listened to her problem and explained to her that life is bigger than she thought it was. She finally calmed down and both talked for a moment. Their conversation came to an end when Lento suddenly proposed her to marry him.
It was the fact that Lento is a gentleman that made Meriel came to her decision to marry him. It was not long until she really loved him. She was proved to be a good queen, a loyal wife and a loving mother. Living in the Palace, she made friends with General Barthos and his wife, Lady Mara.
However, she died after delivering her third and last child, Mythe. Her loss became a fatal blow for Lento and his health turned worse ever since.
